Law Clerks

Senator Hirono’s clerkship program provides an exceptional opportunity to learn about legislation, oversight, nominations, and careers in the legislative branch by working in Senator Hirono’s Washington, D.C. office. Law Clerks will gain professional experience assisting the Senator’s Judiciary Committee team with their work on the Senate Judiciary Committee, including opportunities to be actively involved in legislation and oversight. Law Clerks will research important national and regional legal issues, monitor federal judicial and executive nominations, draft legal memoranda, and prepare for committee hearings and votes.

We strongly encourage diverse applicants and students with ties to Hawaii to apply. The clerkship program is designed for full-time or part-time law students. Candidates must currently be enrolled in a J.D. program at an ABA accredited law school. Academic credit or a stipend may be available based on each institution’s criteria. While some hybrid work is available, this is an in-person opportunity, and law clerks must be based in or near Washington, D.C. for the tenure of their clerkship. Full time availability is preferred.
