Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) introduces an amendment on the House floor to FY 2013 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill that would spur innovation by increasing recourses for the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The purpose of ARPA-E is to help support breakthrough research into new ways to generate, transfer, store, and use energy.
