Hirono Visits Waimanalo Businesses Affected by Flooding, Continues Advocacy for Federal Aid

WAIMANALO – Senator Mazie K. Hirono, Governor David Ige, and representatives from State Government agencies met with farmers and business owners in Waimanalo who were affected by destructive flooding last month.

“Farmers and businesses in Waimanalo lost their crops and inventory to flooding last month, but this resilient community has come together to rebuild and support one another,” Senator Hirono said. “I will continue to work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies to ensure that the communities on Oahu and Kauai have access to every possible federal resource as they work to rebuild.”

Earlier today, Senator Hirono and the Hawaii Congressional Delegation urged President Trump to approve Governor Ige’s federal disaster declaration request for Oahu and Kauai.

On Monday, Senator Hirono traveled to Kauai’s North Shore to assess storm damage.
