HIRONO STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DR. VICTOR HAO LI

Honolulu, HI – Senator Mazie K. Hirono today released the following statement on the passing of former President of the East-West Center, Dr. Victor Hao Li.

“I am saddened to hear of the passing of Victor Hao Li.  Dr. Li’s leadership helped guide and nurture the East-West Center into an institution that strengthens diplomatic ties and promotes greater understanding between the United States, Asia and the Pacific.  Dr. Li worked extensively on expanding our knowledge of the cultural influences and economic needs of the Asia-Pacific region. Even upon leaving the East-West Center, Dr. Li’s significance to our community continued with the establishment of the Asia Pacific Consulting Group, which helps pave the way for American companies to do business in China.  Dr. Li’s contributions to Hawaii and our Pacific neighbors will not be forgotten.”
