Hirono Statement on Senate Republicans Blocking the Women’s Health Reproduction Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) released the following statement on Senate Republicans blocking H.R. 3755, the House-passed Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), from advancing to a final vote in the Senate. Senator Hirono co-sponsored this bill’s Senate companion, S. 1975.

“Yet again, Republicans have chosen politics over everything else and will not even allow a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act.

“Abortion bans ruin lives. I am fed up with oppressive attacks preventing access to safe, legal abortions. Abortion care is health care—and we must continue to fight back and protect the constitutional right to control our own bodies."
