WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) voted to pass legislation to fund the government through December 16th, expand aid to Ukraine, provide emergency relief aid, reauthorize FDA user fees, and help families to afford heating.
“Funding the government should never be up for debate, which is why I’m glad the Senate was able to pass legislation to avoid a needless shutdown today. This legislation not only keeps the government funded, which is critical to supporting families and our economy, but also provides vital aid to support Ukraine’s efforts to defend against Russia’s unprovoked invasion. We also reauthorized FDA user fees for another five years, which will ensure we do not slow down the review process for lifesaving drugs and medical devices,” said Senator Hirono. “While this bill keeps the government funded through December 16, I will work hard with my colleagues to pass a full year omnibus appropriations later this year.”
