Hirono Hosts Maui Immigration Reform Roundtable

US Senator Mazie Hirono is on Maui today as part of a statewide listening tour to bring Hawaii’s voice to Washington.

The four-day tour across the state includes meetings with military leaders, veterans, community leaders, working families, and immigration advocates.

During her Maui visit, Senator Hirono will discuss immigration reform legislation during a roundtable discussion with Filipino, Hispanic and Tongan community leaders. The event takes place at 12:30 p.m. at the ILWU Hall in Wailuku.

As part of the tour, Senator Mazie K. Hirono officially opened her state office on Oahu yesterday, and was ceremonially sworn in after a month of service in the US Senate.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Hawaii in the Senate, and I’m working hard to make sure our state’s voice is heard in Washington,” Hirono said.

“As our economy continues to recover, it is critical Hawaii’s people are able to share their experiences and ideas. I look forward to talking to military leaders, veterans and working families across the islands this week,” said Sen. Hirono.
