Senator Hirono Shares Insights with Girl Up Hawaii

Members of Girl Up Hawaii got a chance to sit down with Senator Hirono and talk about her career as a public elected official and women’s issues on her priority list. The Iolani School juniors shared their strong belief that adolescent girls in foreign countries who live in vulnerable settings deserve access to quality education.

Since 2010, the national Girl Up organization, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation, has raised $5.6 million for education, healthcare, safety, leadership opportunities, and birth registration programs to improve the lives of adolescent girls in Guatemala, Liberia, Malawi, Ethiopia, and India.
