Senator Hirono Honors Hawaii’s Inaugural Veterans Treatment Court Graduating Class

Senator Hirono today provided remarks at the inaugural Veterans Treatment Court graduation ceremony held at the Hawaii State Supreme Court. The Senator commended this year’s graduates for their commitment to making the life-changing decision to participate in the program, thanked them for their service to our country, and offered her best wishes for their continued success.

Judge Ed Kubo established the Hawaii Veteran Treatment Court in February 2013. Judge Kubo and his staff volunteer every Friday afternoon to meet the needs of these veterans. The treatment court takes a holistic approach to provide the resources and treatment veterans need to return to a healthy lifestyle and find good jobs. Hawaii Island has also established a Veteran Treatment Court in Hilo. A similar program is in the works for the island of Maui.
