Senator Hirono Highlights Hawaii’s Role in the Rebalance to the Asia-Pacific at the Shangri-La Dialogue

Senator Hirono represented Hawaii and our nation at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, an annual forum of Asia-Pacific defense officials. The summit serves to cultivate a sense of community among the most important policymakers in the defense and security community in the Asia-Pacific. Senator Hirono traveled as part of the Senate Armed Services Committee delegation that included Chairman John McCain and Ranking Member Jack Reed, Senator Dan Sullivan, and Senator Joni Ernst. Throughout multiple meetings and a press conference, Senator Hirono addressed the importance of America’s rebalance to the Asia-Pacific and the goal of all Asia-Pacific nations’ regional success.
