This is a paid* opportunity designed for the professional development of recent graduates of and students currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Qualified applicants should possess a professional and courteous demeanor, outstanding interpersonal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interest in the government process, and an awareness of community and cultural issues. Press & Legislative internships will be conducted in-person out of our D.C. office.
Legislative interns are provided the opportunity to observe Senate office operations, engage with constituents, interact with the federal legislative process, and develop research skills related to public policy. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting with administrative tasks, processing mail, conducting legislative research, writing memos for staff, drafting constituent correspondence, and attending online policy panels.
Preference will be given to applicants with strong ties to the State of Hawaii. Late applications may be considered if positions have not been filled.
Press interns are provided the unique
opportunity to learn about the legislative process from a press standpoint
while furthering their writing and digital skills. Duties may include but are
not limited to, working with multiple Adobe programs, tracking daily news clips
and a variety of other press projects. Press interns will work closely with the
senator’s communications team to assist in day-to-day activities.
At this time, our office will not be hosting a press internship for the Spring 2025 term.
